Which languages does the Omi translator support? Does it work without an internet connection?

It supports more than 150 languages, covering the main language groups used in travel and business.

It also works offline, but the language packs you need have to be downloaded to the device in advance. Check that your destination language has finished downloading before you travel, so you do not have to rely on local networks after you land.

How does it work with a phone? Do both iPhone and Android work?

Omi attaches magnetically to the back of your phone and shows translations on the phone screen. Both iOS and Android are supported.

Translated text can be entered directly into other apps — pasted into a messaging app or an email, for example — without copying it again by hand.

In a face-to-face conversation, do we have to keep passing the phone back and forth?

No. Conversation mode converts and displays both sides in real time, and the screen can be flipped so the other person reads their side directly.

Translated speech can also be read aloud automatically, and translation and playback continue even with the screen off — useful when your hands are full or you are on the move.

Besides speech, can it translate text I can see?

Yes. Photo translation handles a whole block of text at once, with no need to type it out or look words up.
